The text builds a deep space communication channel model and simulator satisfying thedemand of deep space communication protocol demonstration and validation which are basedon the research on deep space communication channel’s features and take the result of relaynetwork structure research into consideration. On the phase of establishing channel model,this text analyses many effect factors to the propagation of electromagnetic wave in deepspace. In the first jump through Mars Lander to Mars Relays, the research focuses on theabsorption of Mars atmosphere and sand storm on Mars surface. While the second jump,communication between Mars relays and stations on earth, the text mainly talks about theeffect coming from solar scintillation and channel loss, especially discusses the galaxycosmic radiation’s influence to electromagnetic propagation. Finally, the text gives the twojump channel models according with the relay network structure in the project. On the otherphase, this text introduces the channel simulator design using host computer conjunct withhardware board. The hardware logic is developed in embedded mode using AXI4bus. Thefunction of channel simulator is achieved by IP core design on large cache, delay transmitcontrol, error bit adding and the function of host communication is based on the loading andconfiguring PCI-E module pressed by Xilinx cooperation. Software’s missions are interfacedesign, ephemeris file reading and delay value and bit error rate configuration through PCI-E interface which is provided by Windriver. After the simulation and test, the deep spacesimulator is able to accomplish the functions of precise delay control and bit error ratedynamically configuration for deep space communication protocol demonstration andvalidation system.
