Compared with2D images, stereo images can give people a more immersiveexperience and telepresence. While Stereo image bring people visual impact, itscomfort is attracting more and more attention. Horizontal parallax is one of importantfactors that affect3D images comfortableness. If the stereo image parallax is greaterthan specific value, people will feel very uncomfortable, When parallax is more thanPanum range, diplopia will appear and people will even vomit. So the horizontalparallax scope of3D images should be within specific range. However, the scope ofstereo images parallax comfort has not yet been determined, so the3D imagescomfort influence and comfort scope of horizontal parallax is particularly urgent.We use3D images of different horizontal parallax as stimulate signals, record theEEG signals and extract the ERP information of3D images: We also recordbehavioral data of comfort experience of the3D images and calculate their comfortdetection rate. EEG analysis result shows that no matter in the case of crossed oruncrossed horizontal parallax, comfort range of3D images horizontal parallax iswithin45arc min. When horizontal parallax is from45arc min to75arc min, theERP amplitude of around280ms is associated with the discomfort level of crossedparallax3D images and the amplitude of around250ms is related to the discomfortlevel of uncrossed parallax3D images; Detection rate curve and subjective evaluationresults show that comfort range of3D images horizontal parallax is within45arc min.When horizontal parallax is from45arc min to75arc min, the discomfort degree of3D images is increased.The ERP waveform analysis, behavioral data analysis and subjective evaluationresults analysis show that the evaluation method proposed is consistent with comfortdetection rate and mean opinion score highly. So we can use the EEG method toevaluate the comfort of stereo images...
