The quantum defect between laser photon and pump photon is a main cause ofthe thermal effect of the laser equipment, which could be diminished by in-bandpumping. In-band pumping is widely researched to eliminate the wasted heat which isdrawn into the system by quantum effect and becomes a main way to abate thethermal effect. SRS(Stimulated Raman scattering)is one of most important nonlineareffects. Compared with the spontaneous Raman Scattering, SRS has some advantages,such as high optical efficiency, high brightness. We can get590nm light by doublefrequency at1176nm which is widely used in medical science and astronomy.Usingboth of the in-band pumping and the SRS in Nd: YVO4, we can overcome the thermaleffect of the Raman laser though the in-band pumping, and obtain1176nm Stokeswith high o-o efficiency and beam quality. We design an intra-cavity double frequencyand Q-switched Nd: YVO4self-Raman laser in-band pumped under880nm.As provedby the next three experiments, we obtain the588nm output.The main contents areshown as follows:1. Nd: YVO4pumped under808nm/880nm.Making a contrast between the Nd:YVO4pumped under incident808nm and880nm LD pump, it is easy to get aconclusion that laser under880nm pump has a much better performance in alliveatingthe heat than808nm.2. Q-switched Nd: YVO4self-Raman laser in-band pumped under880nm. Nd:YVO4pumped under880nm has a higher o-o efficiency, higher conversion efficiency,and higher beam quality than808nm.Using880nm LD as the pumping source of Nd:YVO4, we obtain the maximum average output power5.41W of1176nm Stokes undermaximum input power of23.88W at repetition frequency of190K.3. Intra-cavity double frequency and Q-switched Nd: YVO4self-Raman laserin-band pumped under880nm.We design a LBO double frequency under1176nmbased on the Q-switched Nd: YVO4self-Raman laser in-band pumped under880nmexperiment, and get the maximum average output power2.03W at588nm.
