Because of the influence of turbidity, pH, flow rate, water temperature and otherfactors in wastewater treatment processes, it is difficult to meet the required removalrate of chemicaloxygendemand (COD), ammonia (NH3-N), oil, sulfur compounds,suspended solids and other impurities in the effluent. Plant operators often cannotprovide accurate tuning to face sudden changes to such parameters stated above,therefore unstable water quality and high processing cost are two common issues. Toavoid these problems, in addition to process improvement, realizing the automaticcontrol of sewage treatment process is of important realistic significance to improvethe quality of the water enhance productivity and lower production cost and so on.The paper combined the design and implementation of control system, carried out theresearch of intelligent monitoring methods in wastewater treatment process, and theintelligent monitoring system is also designed and developed. The main work is asfollows:(1) Because the lag of dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration measuring is bad tocontrol the amount of aeration accurately, a kind of group genetic case-basedreasoning regression method is presented to achieve the soft measurement of DOconcentration, which is modelled by case representation, case retrieval, reuse of groupdecision making, and case retention, to achieve an real-time estimation of the DOconcentration, which laid the foundation to accurate control of aeration;(2) Due to the large quantity of wastewater treatment equipments andinconsistency of the effluent quality, this research combines the soft measurementtechnique of DO concentration with the computer control technique, designsintelligent monitoring scheme in wastewater treatment process, provides architectureof systems and functions, introduces the control software, the soft measurementmodule for DO concentration and the method of configuration programming foroperation guidance, which laid the foundation method for the specific implementationof the system;(3) It is applied to the intelligent monitoring scheme and the method of controlaeration rate basing on the DO concentration soft measurement in the wastewatertreatment plant, which achieves the design of hardware integration and develop ofsoftware configuration, the man-machine interface is intuitive friendly, and easy tooperate and control. The system has been run successfully in the wastewater treatmentplant after field installation and debugging, which made the removal rate of waterimpurities achieve the target and the significant economic results be obtained.
