STAP(Space Time Adaptive Processing)is the key technology to suppress clutter inairborne phased–array radar. However, for the large scale computation and high quantitydemand of the training samples, the full dimension STAP processor is unable to be appliedinto practice. There comes the research of Reduced-Dimension STAP algorithm andReduced-Rank STAP algorithm, which could reduce the processing difficulty of the STAPprocessor under an acceptable clutter suppression performance. This paper researches thetheory of the Reduced-Dimension STAP algorithms and the Reduced-Rank STAP algorithm,and puts foreword a reconfigurable simulation method of STAP algorithm. Then dosimulating of several common Reduced-Dimension STAP algorithms and Reduced-RankSTAP algorithms and research them. The researches and works of this paper aresummarized as follows:The research on the theory of STAP and Reduced-Dimension STAP algorithms as wellas Reduced-Rank STAP algorithms is made. Starts from the special clutter features of theairborne phased-array radar, this paper studied the theory and processing flow of the fulldimension STAP processor. For it is hard to be implemented into practice, the paper thenresearches the theory and types of the Reduced-Dimension STAP algorithms, and analyzedcommon algorithms include1DT-SAP STAP algorithm, mDT-SAP STAP algorithm,PRI-staggered STAP algorithm and JDL STAP algorithm. Then researches the theory andtypes of the Reduced-Rank STAP algorithms, and analyzed common algorithms includeReduced-Rank STAP algorithm based on principal component and Reduced-Rank STAPalgorithm based on multistage Wiener filter.The research on the simulation of STAP algorithm is made. The simulation demandsare analyzed including performance evaluating indicators, the inputs and outputs of thesimulation and the user’s interface of the simulation software. A kind of simulationstructure is designed and raised. This simulation structure is composed of the user’sinterface layer, reconfigurable layer and basic modules layer. Analyze each layer of thisreconfigurable structure and improve this kind of simulation method by improving thematrix computing modules and FFT computing modules of the basic modules.The MCARM data and the analysis of this data is given. Based on this MCARM data,do simulation of STAP algorithms by the reconfigurable simulation method. The simulationperformance is judged by the elements as follows: space-time frequency response, output signal to noise ratio, improvement factor, remainder clutter noise power, detection statisticand Range-Doppler spectrum. On the basis of the analysis above, the simulation result isobtained.
