Relay transmission is widely used because it can increase the coverage of the cell and thelink performance at the cell edge. MIMO technology not only provides diversity gains to combatthe multi-path fading to improve system reliability, but also provides a multiplexing gain toimprove frequency efficiency to increase system capacity. Therefore, the combination of MIMOtechnology and relay transmission can significantly improve system performance. MIMOpre-coding that can eliminate the co-channel interference of system and improve system capacityincludes linear and non-linear pre-coding. ZF pre-coding and MMSE pre-coding are the generallinear pre-coding methods, while THP pre-coding is the non-linear pre-coding. Compared withthe non-linear case, the linear pre-coding is more useful due to the lower implementationcomplexity. The main work of this thesis is to analyze the performance of the single user MIMOtwo-way relay network with ZF pre-coding. In a two-way relay network, including two sourcesuse one or more relay nodes, ZF pre-coding can be located at many places. Dependent on thelocation of ZF pre-coding, several situations are presented in this thesis:1) source node anddestination node;2) source node and relay node;3) relay node and destination node;4) onlyrelay node. Then, we derive outage probability, diversity-multiplex trade-off and the capacity forevery situation. Finally, some numerical results are presented to verify the analysis.ZF is a simple way to restore the spatially multiplexed data in single-user MIMOmulti-relay systems. it is well-known that ZF pre-coding suffers from noise enhancement, whichresults in the reduction of capacity. Thus, we use three relay scheduling strategies to overcomethis weakness, namely,1) Max-max scheduling;2) Min-max scheduling;3)Spatially-independent scheduling. At the end of this thesis, we compared and analyzed thosescheduling strategies by using the outage probability and capacity metric.
