In recent years, Cooperation Diversity is a hot spot in the researches of wireless communication. With the people's growing demand for wireless networks and the development of wireless network infrastructure, the research on wireless relay channel and cooperation diversity receives extensive attention. And the researches have gradually shifted from the theoretical study to the practical application, such as cooperation diversity strategy and relay selection.First, a brief introduction of the application and the basic concept of the joint source-channel coding is given. Then the fundamental of cooperation communication, some classic cooperation strategies as well as relay selection methods are introduced. So that readers can has an intuitive way of understanding and knowledge of the cooperation strategies and relay selection methods.A new receiver cooperation strategy based on layered broadcast coding is proposed and studied. Cooperation in broadcast system can effectively reduce the expected distortion of the system, but the traditional cooperation strategy will cause extra cost, because the relay node will also forward the information useless for the destination. To solve this problem, a receiver cooperation strategy based on layered broadcast coding is derived. In the strategy, taking advantage of the coding structure, the relay can select and forward the information useful for the destination, so it can improve the system performance with small forwarding power cost.A new relay selection method based on layered broadcast coding is also proposed. The new method can solve the relay selection problem in the actual broadcast system when more than one node exists nearby each receiver. In the method, according to the correctly decoded information layer number of each receiver, we can choose the one that correctly decode the biggest layer number as the relay node. Different from the existing relay selection algorithm, in the broadcast system, the method makes full use of the characteristics of layered broadcast coding, and selects the relay without increasing the system additional overhead. The method also reduces the complexity of relay selection and system power consumption, guarding the receivers'quality of service.
