With the development of software testing techniques, automated test is becoming a mainstream and a trend of software testing. How to improve the level of automation becomes a challenge in the field of the automated test when automation is used in the testing process.This paper designs and implements the Grid tool which extends the function of the existing test tool of Sybase named QuaSR to solve the contradiction between the lack of human resource and the product quality caused by the low level of automation of QuaSR, and also improves the efficiency of test.Grid tool has a cross-platform and distributed features, and has the task allocation and management, failure recovery fuction, while the design of the test result database can solve the deficiencies of the QuaSR test results management and aggregation.This paper introduces the design of QuaSR testing tool and its using in the Replication server automated testing cycle as the background, and then analyses the requirement of Grid tool. Based on the requirement, this paper gives out the design and implementation of the Grid tool include the over all design and the design of the modules.Then the paper implements the Grid tool by using of structured softerware method and in some modules which has high requirement of extention using Object-oriented software development methods.The design and implementation of the Grid tool has a high practical significance for the QA team. The Grid tool has been widely used in the QA team of Sybase data management product and achieved certain results.
