In the era of digitization, network information is increasing explosively. Along with the growing popularity of network behaviors of mankind, streaming media technology emerges. This not only proposes rigorous requirement for the storage performance and capacity of disk, but also demands streaming media system to be equipped with fast and accurate capabilities of data analysis and retrieval, which will enable us to get the desired critical information instantly. This shows that efficient storage and retrieval methods play an important role in the overall performance of streaming media system. In this paper, a data storage scheme based on time index of streaming media data storage is proposed. First, we design the file system with time-indexed function and add the dimension of time index based on the traditional data bitmap index. The design principle of the system is analyzed and hierarchical division is performed on the overall implementation of whole system according to the functions. Then the core technology of every level and its implementation are elaborated on. Finally is the description of the main operation of the file system:read and write process of file. After that, we present the overall framework of streaming video system for design idea analysis and functions division. Then the core technology of each module and realization principle are introduced in details, which focuses on key technologies of receiver decoder module, including the environment building, decoders selection and so on, leading to streaming media storage system. Finally, according to the application demands of streaming media storage system, the file system with time index function is applied to the streaming media storage system in this paper, which achieves intelligent retrieval to some extent. When the system starts to receive data, it first parses data’s frame header through the decoder to extract the feature information, populates the data structure and then uses the database to manage these information. At the same time, the data files and directories’index structure are created. The corresponding file operation interface is established after the management of database, through which the file system is accessed to perform data read and write operations. In the data retrieval aspect, this paper designs a variety of retrieval modes. Users can choose proper retrieval mode according to their needs, where the time index utilizes the file system designed in this paper. Data retrieval operations of time index are executed by entering the kernel through the unified interface.
