Automation level of a country determines the strength of the productioncapacity of the country, and robots as a representative of the automation canbetter reflect a country’s development of science and technology level. Alongwith the rapid development of our country economy and modern science in recentyears, robot has entered into each industry, and plays its characteristics of highprecision, high efficiency, has become an irreplaceable tool in people’s life andproduction. However our country starts late in the field of robot, the developmentis not comprehensive enough, especially the application of robot in orthodonticstreatment industry to the technology of archwire bending is slightly weak. Andorthodontics industry as one of the rapid developing industry at present, thetraditional manual bending archwire technology could not satisfy the precisionand efficiency requirement of archwire bending in gradually personalized oraltreatment. Therefore develop an archwire bending robot not only conform to therule of development of science and technology, also can better meet the marketrequirement, more orthodontics patients in need get better treatment.In this paper, based on the clinical actual demand, based on manual bendingprocess of the archwire is analyzed, and combining with the characteristics of themechanical structure, a robot which can be used to bend orthodontic archwire isdesigned. The structure of the robot is relatively simple, the cost is low, and thebending curve type is plentiful. This paper mainly accomplishes the followingjobs. First of all, analyze the method and principle of the archwire bending, andchoose a suitable method for archwire bending robot; After the archwire bendingprocess were analyzed, a satisfy T curve bending process is designed; Throughthe bending process requirements and analysis all sorts of the robot structure,choose the basic structure of archwire bending robot, and distribute each part ofthe degrees of freedom robot reasonably; Use Pro/E on the3-d modeling wascarried out on the concrete structure and the whole robot. Robot in all parts of the important parts are in AnsysWorkbench statics analysis, and verified the structureoperating requirement is meet under the the effect of static forces; ADAMS wasapplied to analyzed the kinematics of robot, and verified the robot movementspace meet the needs of the archwire bending. Application AnsysWorkbenchmodal analysis was carried out on the robot related parts, ensure the vibrationcharacteristic of the robot, and the dynamics simulation of the archwire bending,the archwire and machine interaction in the process of related features is obtainedduring the archwire bending process.
