As the techniques of communication, sensor manufacturing and embedded computing gradually become mature, large-scale wireless sensor network technology is developing rapidly and has been widely applied to a great number of fields such as environment, national defense disaster rescue, city management, etc. A large number of wireless sensor nodes automatically organize network by means of wireless communication and then form typical wireless sensor network(WSN). Wireless sensor network is not restricted by the existing cable network infrastructure as it is based on wireless communication. Sensor nodes detect the data in the environment and then transmit them to convergence nodes through wireless network in the way of hop-by-hop for processing. As wireless sensor network enjoys the merits of no requiring for man on duty, convenient communication, etc, it has been widely adopted in various environments, greatly facilitating our lives.Currently, scores of research efforts have been devoted to improve the performance of wireless sensor network and reduce the energy consumption. Wireless sensor nodes are short in energy as they powered by battery. Hence the priority to be noted in wireless sensor network design is energy saving. One of the existing approaches to reduce energy consumption is to keep sensor nodes keep off for most of the time and only switch them on when sending or receiving packets. Utilization of this method solely is not effective. To reduce duty cycles increases the chance of collisions, which means that data have to be re-transmitted, leading to extra energy consumption. Therefore, in this study, the aim of reducing energy consumption is achieved by means of tackling conflicts and decrease re-transmission. To tackle the problem of collisions, many protocols for Medium Access Control (MAC) have been proposed, arranging and scheduling node activities properly and then enabling senders to send data at different intervals. Traditionally, those mechanisms can be roughly classified into two categories:contention-based and schedule-based.The conflict resolving mechanism of wireless sensor network is analyzed in this paper; and the existing protocols are re-classified. A novel conflict resolving solution and relevant protocols are proposed based the communication features of existing large-scale wireless sensor networks.Corresponding to conflict problems, the method we propose in this paper is to use correlatable symbol sequences as ID identification code for channel conflict participation, identifying conflict node ID one by one with relevant detection. Therefore, the proposed protocol is suitable large-scale wireless sensor network, greatly reducing network energy consumption and improving network throughput. The proposed approach is a novel conflict resolving method and belongs to conflict tolerance protocol.
