The distribution pattern of China’s energy determined that the coal was the mainprimary energy in China. In recent years, the Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler hasbeen widely welcomed for its superior environmental characteristics, fuel adaptabilityand good operating performance. China’s large-capacity Circulating Fluidized Bedcoal-fired power plant boiler unit got rapid improvement, the capacity of the CirculationFluidized Bed boiler generator set has been close to300MW.The CFB boiler will be inthe priority status of the development in the field of clean coal power generation inChina.One of the biggest advantages of the CFB boiler is the excellent adaptability to thefuel, but it has more strict requirements of the range of the size of coal particle, theaverage particle size and the distribution of the particle size, different furnace anddifferent kinds of coals’ burning coal have different requirements with particle size of thecoal. Such as, the range of the particle size have a great impact on the coal-fired boilerfluidized combustion conditions, the ability to load, the wear of the heating surface andthe refractory. Therefore, to ensure that the coal particle size distribution is reasonably isa very important issue that must be addressed in the design and operation of the powerplant coal preparation system.This paper processes and analysis the image of coal-gangue fired CFB boiler by themethod of digital image processing, we put forward a kind of particle detection algorithm,which includes the following parts: image preprocessing, extract the effective part of thebinary images obtained, extract the features of the effective part of the image obtained,conversion ratio,get the size distribution. Verified the digital image-processing algorithmbased on MATLAB, and get great results, and ultimately program an executable programusing VC++and OpenCV to implement the online detection of particle sizes. The resultsachieved the accuracy and precision of the actual required.
