Memristor is a new two-terminal passive device with nonlinear and memorycharacteristics, it is different from resistor, capacitor and inductor. Within a certainrange, change the size and polarity of the voltage between both ends of the memristor,its nonlinear resistance variation can be controlled. Memory capacitance circuit andmemory inductance circuit which are made by memristor, ordinary resistor, capacitorand operational amplifier can simulate the basic characteristics of capacitance andinductance. The equivalent capacitance values of capacitor circuit and equivalentinductance values of inductor circuit can be adjusted by controlling the change ofmemristor.Filter is a frequency selection circuit which allows a portion of the signal passedand another is suppressed, filter plays an important role in large scale integratedcircuit and information processing systems.In this paper, the specific application of memristor in filter design are analyzed,besides it, second order low pass filter circuit and high pass filter circuit based onmemristor, combined with memory capacitance circuit have been designed. Therelated parameters such as cut-off frequency, transmission band and transfer functioncan be adjusted by changing the resistance of the memristor, compared to the way toadjust parameters by conventional mechanical potentiometer and digital potentiometer,filter based on memristor has a great advantage in circuit size, accuracy, stability andautomatic control. Application of the memristor in filter design is proved to bereasonable and feasible through a series of SPICE simulations.
