With the expansion of power systems today, computer technology which enables power plants to be better automatic operation and control has been widely used in power plant monitoring system. The safe, practical and professional power plant simulation training system is not only an important means of the training in operators, assessment and modern management in plants, but also an effective method of pre-job training and modular teaching in Colleges.This paper describes the design of the simulation training system using the Xi-jin hydropower plant as the model. The system is able to well meet the requirements in the training of operation and monitoring in hydropower plants. This paper mainly analyzes and researches the hydropower plant simulation training system modules and functions, such as simulation modes, hardware and software, the principle and function of support system, the mathematical models of main equipment (such as turbine and generator and so on),the interface of replicating machine and the communication model between teacher and students, this paper also analyzes different kinds of the faults handled in the simulation training system. The simulation training system can fully simulates the electrical system, as well as oil, water, wind system and protection system. The simulation training system, which is rich interface and easily used, not only helps operators to be skillful, but also benefits the running in hydropower plants stable, safe and reliable and efficient.
