In the satellite communication, multi-band is one of the most effective methods toextend the communications capacity. Currently, existing resource of C-band andKu-band satellite cannot meet the emerging requirement from satellite communicationand the application of Ka-band satellite communication becomes more and morepopular. The terminals of satellite communication become smaller and movable, andmore research focus on Ku/Ka dual band reflector antenna of simple structure and smallaperture.This paper focuses on the dual-band reflector antenna of small aperture, and aKu/Ka dual-band mobile antenna of0.6m diameter is designed, manufactured and tested.The polarization characteristics are linear and circular for Ku and Ka band respectively.The antenna is of excellent performance and simple and small in structure, and suitablefor mobile vehicles, such as car, airplane and ship.To acquire better performance, a shaped ring-focus antenna configuration isadopted. The aperture field distribution function for shaping and the main parameters ofthe reflector system, such as the illumination angle, the illumination edge taper areoptimized. Since common corrugate horn of large opening angle does not have wideenough bandwidth, a scheme of large opening corrugate horn with ring-loaded slot isproposed. And the problem preventing Ku/Ka dual-band feed from small aperturereflector antenna is solved.The Ku/Ka dual-band antenna studied in this paper is of great value in engineering.And it has been accepted by customs with all requirements satisfied, gainingconsiderable economic profit.
