With the rapid development of software technology and the popularity of electronic devices, Landscape designer’s work gradually developed into a way of combining software from pure hand-painted. In recent years, Landscape design industry gradually combined with virtual reality technology.This study is based on Unity3D technology, designed and produced a traditional garden with Chinese south classical garden’s characteristics. The overall development process divided into two phases:design and production. The design phase including style, architecture, water, plants, rocks, main interface, set interface and so on. Production stage is divided into three steps:First make cad drawings based on sketches; then use3ds max to create a model; finally, achieved six functions:music switching function, the four seasons’ selection, scene roaming and small map function, information interactive features, building automatic door switch function and boat features. Used Unity3D technologies such as terrain editing techniques, collision detection, joints, particle system technology, shader and so on. After finished the virtual traditional garden system, I carried out a detailed system testing to find and solve problems. Using fog technology solved the problem of rain distortion, using shader technology and bump mapping solved the problem of water distortion, debug setup of3ds Max and Unity3D. Finally, the traditional garden was published to web successfully, completed the development and implementation of this system.The research results ultimately achieved the preliminary idea:garden environment closed to the real, interactive features is complete, system speed is good. This system not only meet user’s entertainment experience, but also has practical significance on promoting the development of landscape design industry.
