Web is a landmark of the advent of computer and information technology age, Web is the the most important and common application of the Internet, it has become one of the main channels for people to get information and many services. But Web is not perfect, there are still many problems to be solved, such as the Web information cannot be processed automatically and can not be effectively used, Web service discovery, matching, retrieval recall rate and precision is low. When we use Web as a global database to search information and knowledge, today’s search engines cannot search more accurately. The main reason may be that the structure and size of the current Web is not sufficient enough to make the search more accurately and efficiently. The second reason can’t be ignored:now Web contains a huge number of documents, and the quantity of ducuments and informations on web tend to be doubled in every one or two years. The mechanism of files and Web itself may also be changed rapidly with more tractable manner, so we use the semantic web.In September of the year1998, Berners-Lee first proposed the idea of the semantic web, semantic web technology provides the information of semantic representation mechanism, its final purpose is to realize the interoperability of knowledge level of information sharing and semantic。 To manuplate the management of knowledge sharing, we must use idea of ontology as a guide. In the semantic web, ontology plays a very important role, it is the semantic support of the information mechanism on Semantic Web, it provides a clear definition of semantic information, provides the vocabulary for semantic markup. In the ontology, there is a lot of important knowledge which are implicit, which lead to the utilization rate is not high, so the reasoning for implicit knowledge of ontology has become a hot issue in the current ontology research.The knowledge representation system in description logic can carry out some the specific types of reasoning on knowledges. Its power of reasoning is beyond the scope of the current information processing tools on the web. The knowledge bases of description logic includ a TBox and an ABox, a set of interpretations. The syntax of KB in the Desrcription Logic will be equivalent to a set of formulae of first-order predicate logic. In this way, the knowledge base would contain much richer contents in both syntax and semantic.The reasoning machenism of KB in the description logic includes reasoning about consistency of ABox and TBox.In general, almost all logical reasoning about knowledges can be reduced to the consistency verification.Ontology description language OWL-DL (based on description logic) contains a special sub-laguage that is used to support the computational performance of inference system.But it can’t express the common rules between ontologies and concepts. The inference system based on ontology built before can only carry out some reasoning about classes and subclasses relation, its ability of logical deduction is limited. For this reason, reseachers in the area recently have proposed SWRL (semantic Web Rule Language).This laguage support reasoning about the rules between ontologies.It provides a more powerful tool for knowledge representation and knowledge inference.SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language) can be considered as a sub-laguage of OWL language based the combination of the OWL DL and OWL Lite. It can be integrated with the Unary/Binary Datalog RuleML sublanguages of the Rule Markup Language. SWRL allows the user to write rules which can be expressed by OWL concepts, so as to provide stronger deductive reasoning ability for OWL. Both are based on the same syntax and semantic.In this paper, based on the latest research results at home and abroad, we have implemented a reasoning mechannism on family ontology by using the rules of SWRL.This mechanism would help us to discove deeper and implicit knowledges in the ontology of family, and, we hope, our proposed mechanism can contribute to the area of scientific research on semantic web and ontology.
