Optical fiber communication with low interference, high-capacity, long-distance, low-loss and other advantages, which became the backbone of the network communication.As the transmission distance of optical fiber communication systems continues to grow, in order to overcome their own fiber attenuation loss, which requires an initial necessary to improve the signal light power into the fiber, but the higher power stimulated Raman scattering effect more obvious impact on system performance more large. The erbium-doped fiber amplifier as the main representative of the trunk amplifier, which to a certain extent eased the power of contradiction. However, EDFA disadvantage is the high cost, narrow bandwidth.Raman amplifiers with low-cost, non-linear distortion, gain bandwidth is almost unlimited, relative to other systems, such as the advantages of simple structure, it became a long-distance, large-capacity ideal technology for dense wavelength division multiplexing systems are widely used. Raman amplifiers based on stimulated Raman scattering effect of amplification principle, the system optical fiber as the amplifying medium, the use of high-power short-wavelength light as pump light amplification for information. In the pumping process is not equal to the amplified signal amplification gain, but many factors that affected showing fluctuating. In order to make a smooth signal received power, so we need to enlarge the gain of the amplifier system to do flat optimization.In this paper, the main research contents and results are as follows:First, through widely consulting the domestic and foreign literature of Raman amplification, we made a study and analysis of a series of FRA. The focus of this paper is the characteristics and applications of fiber Raman amplifier system. Based on previous studies on FRA, this paper introduces the work principle and characteristic Raman amplifier. Introducing the model of Raman amplifier, we analyzed the relationship between the gain amplification system and system parameters (such as:the initial signal power, pump power, fiber length etc.).Second, in order to analyze the FRA system noise, the main noise model is established, at the same time, we made a detailed analysis and Study on its. The results confirm previous data simulation results, and shows the relationship between noise and system parameters.Third, the coupling transmission equation of FRA as the foundation, Numerical analysis method is used to simulate the pump and signal power distribution along the fiber. In the simulation process, in order to optimize the system gain flatness, here we use the PSO algorithm, and it greatly improves the system performance.
