The rapid development of communication networks is owe to thecontinuous appearance of new service, the huge increase quantity ofservice and the development of technology. Now the hot issues are Alloptical networks, wireless networks and packet-switch data networks.There were not such high speed expand of them without thedevelopment of backbone communication networks, in spite of thedifference of their transport theories, the service they took and thecapacity of them.The technology of optical communication concentrated on WDM,all optical networks. Optical amplify technology, optical switch device,new type laser promoted their development. The fiber attenuation, fiberdispersion, fiber nonlinear effects were the key factors to increasingoptical communication capacity, optimizing the optical device.SRS is the nonlinear effects. It influenced optical fiber communicationsystem greatly. Rational application of SRS can make it available todevelop good optical device, otherwise SRS would do harm to opticalfiber communication.The influence to optical fiber communication system caused bySRS is studied in this thesis.In chapter one, we deduced SRS from exordium. Then theapplication of SRS was presented, such as fiber raman laser, fiberraman amplifier and wavelength converter and so on. The bad influenceof SRS, raman crosstalk was argued too.In chapter two, the SRS effects theory and its key index wereanalyzed in detail. As also Formula of raman gain spectrum and ramanthreshold were deduced .In chapter three, particular study of raman amplifier was taken.The raman amplifier power and field model were argued. Then ramanamplifier's prosperity about gain, bandwidth, noise and high powerpump characteristic were discussed in detail. Finally S band apllicationof raman amplifier was researched and some result was elicited.
