Agriculture is the foundation for Chinese economic development with a key importance of food supply. Adequate food resource is the guarantee for human’s life. Agriculture demonstration zone is a new type emerging with the agricultural technological innovation whose main functions is to technological development, demonstration, spread and promotion. As a derivation of agricultural modernization, agriculture demonstration zone is beneficial to the efficient utilization of agricultural resources, and the improvement of agricultural production benefits, with feature of technology intensiveness which is significant to the promotion of traditional agricultural transformation, and also makes positive effects to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture and agricultural products internationally.Sand table provides people direct visual effect by its realistic scenes. However, traditional sand table only provides static display without any dynamic effect. The sand table design in this research improves the interactive function based on the traditional design of sand table, and presents the visual image of agriculture demonstration zone which satisfies the requirements of people’s sensory logic when visiting the agriculture demonstration zone.This research applies the popular ZigBee currently to realize the design of sand table system integrating with the construction requirements of project Fangzheng County Informationized Monitoring Center in Agriculture Zone as well as consulting the latest research trends domestically and internationally. Firstly, the author designs a wireless tree network based on ZigBee in this research. Secondly, this research focuses on the system’s hardware and software design. The hardware design part includes the follows:type selections of ZigBee wireless receiving and dispatching modules, sensor, GPRS module, LCD module, relay and tablet PC for industrial usage; hardware circuit design of gateway node and terminal node; output control circuit design; system power supply design, based on which the circuit board is completed and the sand table is made on the appropriate cystosepiment and other materials. The software design part includes the introduction to ZigBee development environment (this research applies the IAR platform to the development of ZigBee protocol stack and uses TinyOS as the operational system of CC2530); introduction to communication protocols (the protocol used between client and gateway is the Modbus, and the protocol used between gateway and terminal node is ZigBee); programming of wireless module; programming of the node (the LCD presents the real time data of each area in the sand table).This research selects the industrial tablet PC producted by Beijing Kunluntongtai Automation Software Technology Co., Ltd. and applies its MCGS to develop the observation interface of sand table showing the running status in real time and controlling the operations of equipments in the sand table. Finally, the author operates and debugs the system, tests the stability of system, builds the ZigBee wireless network, and realizes the two-way communication between gateway and nodes.The experiments show that the ZigBee wireless network in this research works stably and it can realize the direct visual display of the agriculture demonstration zone with high portability which can be used in the constructions of agriculture demonstration zone. Meanwhile, this design can reveal the environmental parameters of influence factors in the process of crop growth in order to control the growth process accurately. Under the assistance of the sand table control system, the environment parameters of crops can be directly, timely and accurately demonstrated in the indoor exhibition zone, which is meaningful and significant in the guidance of agricultural control in the productive process.
