Self-organizing Ad hoc network is a multi-hop system with wireless transceivers, which can be organized anywhere at any time. It is widely used and becomes the keytechnology in many fields. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology at thephysical layer has been widely studied and applied. But the advantages of MIMO, suchas flexibility and network throughput improvement, can be effectively utilized only bydesigning upper layer protocols. So, to design better multiple access protocolssupporting MIMO for Ad hoc network is studied widely. This thesis focuses on the TDMA based MAC (Medium Access Control) protocolswith MIMO links for Ad hoc network. Firstly, a brief introduction of the Ad hocnetwork and MIMO technology are given, the existing MAC protocols with MIMOlinks for Ad hoc network are described in general. Aiming at improving algorithmdefects when allocating time slot to nodes in MIMO Ad hoc network based on TDMA,MUM-STDMA (a protocol with Multicast and Unicast based on STDMA in MIMO Adhoc Networks) is proposed. The network topology information is unnecessary in thisprotocol, QoS of different traffics are guaranteed, throughput of network is improved. The simulation has been conducted to prove the validity of the protocol. In addition, another MIMO MAC protocol based on TDMA which can realize simultaneouscommunication of nodes in neighbor area is proposed. The time slot allocation can becompleted by3-way handshaking. The slot utilization rate is raised, and the length oftime frame is reduced, at last, the throughput of network is also improved. The networktopology information is unnecessary in this protocol which can be applied in distributedAd hoc network.
