A wind profiler is a type of weather observing equipment that uses the effect ofatmospheric turbulence on the scattering of electromagnetic wave to detectatmospheric wind field and other physical quantities. The wind profiler has theadvantages of observation frequency, high automaticity and low operation cost.Reasonable layout, and proper spacing make the wind profile radar network play animportant role in the meteorological service, and research, the aerospace meteorology, environmental monitoring, military meteorological, guarantee, emergency casesupport, and disaster prevention and mitigation. Local meteorological departmentshave launched a wind profiler radar construction plan relying on projects of the centralgovernment and the local government. The wind profiler local trial networks wereestablished and improved in the Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai World Expoand Guangzhou Asian Games. In this paper, a L band boundary wind profile antenna was studied and designed, and the antenna used8×8dual-polarization aperture-coupled microstrip elements.Fistly, this paper analyzed and discussed about the structure of microstrip antenna, feeding method, analysis method and realization of dual polarized microstrip antennaand determined two forms of antenna. The two forms were simulated and designed, then port isolation, cross polarization, VSWR and radiation patterns. The final formwas determined. Finally, the design of the overall structure was proposed, and the overallarchitecture and operate mode were discussed. Antenna array structure, the feedingnetwork and the phase shift network were simulated and designed.
