The Application of clinical decision support system can effectively resolve thelimitation of doctor’s medical knowledge, and standard doctor’s clinic behavior, so it canimprove the quality and efficiency of medical care. Even though its value has beencommonly accepted, but both at home and abroad, there are little systems are investedwidely in clinical practice and used for a long time, to sum up there are two reasons:First, the types of existing clinical decision support systems are single, most can onlysupport clinic decisions for one disease, the openness is differential, and no flexibility toexpand. Second, lack of systematic, structured diagnostic rules and decision models tosupport making clinical decision.This article did research on the above two issues, proposed a clinicaldecision-making mechanism based on rules engine, so that the system has goodscalability, in ensure the premise of providing appropriate decision-making proposal atthe right time. First, based on the function of rules engine in open clinical clinicintelligent decision support system, gave the architecture of rules engine; Then, focusresearch on the clinics model library as supporting data, extracted the clinical clinicrules through analyzing the clinical pathways and clinical guidelines, designed theclinical clinic rules description language based on XML; Later, did deep research on therules matching algorithm, and optimized the Rete algorithm combining the features ofclinical clinic. Finally, on the basis of the above research and design, this paperimplemented the rules engine that can support the clinic decision-making.This paper applied the rules engine in clinical decision support system for tibialplateau fracture, the results show that the implementation of rules engine meets thedesign objectives, it can provide effective decision support for the clinicians, especiallythe non-specialist clinicians and junior doctors, and helps to reduce clinical errors.
