With the rapid development of communication technology, the communication system will increasingly focus on the stability and reliability of the filter circuit and the degree of integration, the quality of the microwave filter affect the SNR and receiving sensitivity of the whole communication system directly. Therefore, how to carry on the parameter design and the effective performance test for the microwave filter has been the hotspot of research concerned extensively in communication system.The full name of the Microwave Communication Experiment Platform is the Microwave Micro-strip Circuit System Experimental Design Platform, which is specially designed for the experiment teaching of the Electronic Communication Engineering, Microwave Circuit, Microwave Technology, Microwave Antenna, etc. The platform is mainly composed of Microwave sending and receiving platform system circuits, which can embed the designed microwave communication circuit to the experiment platform by the particular open-circuit design and test various performance indicators through the communication transmission experiment.The paper follows the principle of applying engineering design and improving operational ability and widely studies the performance of micro-strip filter through the microwave communication experiment platform. Firstly, the paper introduces the research background, the microwave communication experiment platform and the stimulation software ADS. Then this thesis demonstrates the basic theory of micro-strip and microwave filter and studies the characteristics and performance metrics of the experiment platform, the parameter test and performance research have also been carried on to the transmission way of audio and video and micro-strip filter. Finally, the Parallel Coupled Line and Hairpin filter have been designed by using ADS and different factors such as Permittivity, Thickness of board, permeability, thickness of metal layer and dissipation factor to filter’s performance are discussed.The work in this paper is based on the design theory of microwave filter and the microwave communication experiment system platform. The paper researches the design, simulation and optimization of microwave filter, studies the application of the relevant instrument and ADS, improves the students’ability of practice and also has certain reference value to the engineering design.
