Peer-to-peer (P2P) network is a widely used network. The purpose of constructing P2P network is to obtain available resources from all hosts within the network, where all user nodes are both consumers and suppliers of resources. The server plays a more important role in managing resources from user nodes rather than supplying resources alone.Since there are many problems existed in the traditional centralized P2P network, this paper focuses on the improvement to traditional centralized P2P network by taking the advantage of grouping search algorithm. As the traditiona centralized P2P network heavily depends on the central server, which may easily cause communication blocking, server crash or other problems, this paper puts forward a resolution to improve the centralized P2P network performance by virtue of grouping management of the client note. While the client sends an application for joining to the central server, the central server will arrange a new group for it correspondingly and other new nodes for this new group will be determined by user nodes. And then the relevant data of this group will be stored in local database. Once the client starts its resource searching process, it will first search resource in local database. If the nodes with target resources are found, it will connect these nodes directly; if the nodes with target resource are not found, it will research into other groups of these nodes. As a result, the pressure of central server will be reduced significantly. In the grouping P2P network solution, the resource searching and downloading of the client node are mainly realized by interacting with the shared resource from nodes within private group and it only connects to server when no expected resource is found within shared database. This pattern greatly reduces the load pressure of central server. The solution based on grouping, by making use of the basic information of all nodes within the private group stored in different client nodes, can eliminate traditional centralized P2P network’s disadvantage of over replying on central server, and enable client nodes to search and download shared resource when central server encounters failure. The collection quantity and searching depth which are possessed by each client nodes take great influence on the success rate and time cost of searching shared resources. This paper presents the P2P network resource sharing technology based on grouping search algorithm. As opposed to the traditional P2P resource sharing network, it can reduce the central server load and reduce dependence of central server. It has a good practical effect.
