Measuring complex parts by using digital measuring devices such as coordinatemeasuring machine is very common in advanced manufacturing industry. Recognition andacquisition of measuring information is the foundation and basis for determininggeometric elements to be inspected, inspection items and its content. According to thedifferent engineering presentation of parts’ model, to find a ntuitionistic, convenient andefficient method and a realization mechanism for obtaining measuring information is animportant part and popular technology research problem in CAIP(Computer AidedInspection Planning).The technology of measuring information recognition and acquisition is discussed inthis paper in accordance with the MBD (Model Based Definition) represention of the partmodel and New-generation GPS (Geometrical Product Specifications) on the problems ofrecognition and acquisition of measuring information on the basis of definition of partmodel provided by traditional CAD technology. By summing up, analysing andresearching today’s main basic theory, research findings and implementation pattern of therecognition and acquisition of measuring information, the MBD dataset of parts’ model isused as parts’ modeling specifications and the basic data source for acquisiting measuringinformation. On the basis of the definition of geometric model and the construction of theNew-generation GPS, the part’s measuring information consists of the invirable classdivision, dimension tolerance, geometric tolerance and surface texture. A realizationmechanism for the recognition and acquisition of measuring information, which usingtolerance information to find its relevant geometric information, is determined bymodeling representation of measuring information and constructing the relationshipsbetween tolerance information and geometry information.The relationship representation model of workpiece coordinate measuringinformation is condtructed in combination of the New-generation GPS to describe therelationship between tolerance and geometric features by analyzing the informationconstruction of part’s MBD dataset. The program for the recognition and acquisition ofmeasuring information is developed according to the acquisition process of measuringinformation under the environment of UG NX. Finally, the accessibility and effectivenessof the program and the above researches are proved by an examle.
