With the development of the echography, the requirement of its remoteutilization is badly needed. A tele-ultrasonography system can help us to let themedical echography expert in his office diagnose the patients in their house, andto do the experiments while the equipment is in another city. It is obvious that theresearch of the tele-ultrasonography system is interesting and significant.However, the existing systems have the main following problem: the lack of theresearch oriented system, the weakness of the control ability in the remote sideand the distortion of the image. In addition, some systems are not real-time andportable, which restricts their application.To solve these problems, after the study of the system architecture, theresearch environment, the related software and hardware, some networktechnologies and the capture of the USB data, the USB/TCP data transformationbased system has been realized.Firstly, the ULA-OP is employed as the echography device. The ULA-OP isa new generation portable advanced open ultrasound research platform which canbe applied also in the medical area. It provides a full-software-control interfacewhich indicates the new solution.Secondly, the tele-ULA-OP system based on the remote desktop technologywas explored. This system is real-time portable stable and practical system whichcan be controlled in both two sides. But with the lossy compression method ofthe image, the quality of the image should be improved.Finally, considering the USB connection between the PC and the ULA-OP,the USB/TCP data transformation based system has been proposed. In thissystem, the PC connected to ULA-OP, giving all his right to the remote PC works,as a bridge to transmit the command data to ULA-OP, and the image date to theremote PC so that the remote PC can control the ULA-OP and receive thenon-distortion image. Besides, this system is real-time, portable, and low-cost. Anumber of simulate and actual experiments indicate that this system can workwell in the Campus Area Network with strong control ability in the remote side.This research is prospective, it can well adapt to the future network. In fact,the control ability of the near side should be improved in the further study. In thisstudy, some experiments have been carried out internationally, which haspracticed the research cooperation with the equipment between the Chinese andFrench research centers.
