A variety of radio access networks are expected to be heterogeneously integrated,achieve collaborative communication and support user multi-homing transmission anddiversity of services in future mobile communication network. In heterogeneouslyintegrated network, the heterogeneity of the access networks, the variety of userequipment functions and the diversity of user services pose difficulties and challengeson resource management technology. In this thesis, joint resource allocation algorithmfor heterogeneously integrated network will be discussed. The content of this thesismainly includes the following issues:Firstly, the existing heterogeneous integration scenarios specified by internationalstandardization organizations, radio resource management architectures and algorithmsare analyzed and summarized, and the difficulties and challenges on resource allocationalgorithm are presented. Then, resource allocation algorithms of heterogeneous networkincluding bandwidth allocation, power allocation and joint power and bandwidthallocation algorithms are summarized, and the necessity for related study is pointed out.Then, a service (Quality of Service) QoS-oriented joint resource allocationalgorithm for uplink transmission in (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)UMTS and (Wireless Local Area Network) WLAN integrated network is proposed. Forheterogeneous users with different QoS requirements, through examining thethroughput performance of users in two networks, repectively, the optimization problemis formulated as maximizing user overall throughput for both access networks subject toQoS constraints. Solving the optimization problem by using of Genetic Algorithm (GA),the optimal resource allocation strategy can be obtained. Numerical simulationdemonstrates the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.Finally, the spectrum sharing and resource allocation problem of uplinktransmission in a macrocell and femtocell (Macro-Femto) heterogeneous networkapplying hybrid spectrum approach is studied. An energy-efficient optimal jointresource allocation algorithm for Marco-Femto heterogeneous network is proposed. Theenergy efficiency of both macrocell user equipments (MUEs) and femtocell userequipments (FUEs) is derived, and the optimal resource allocation problem isformulated as maximizing user individual energy efficiency subject to user QoSconstraints. Applying ideal-point method, the formulated multi-object optimization problem can be solved and the optimal joint resource allocation strategy can be obtained.Numerical results demonstrate the proposed algorithm is capable of guaranteeing theQoS requirements of both MUEs and FUEs and achieving the optimization of userenergy efficiency.
