In recent years, with the development of information technology, more and more areasrequire secure and reliable identity authentication, so biometric authentication has beendeveloped rapidly. However, with the gradual deepening of biometric recognition applications,it exposes some of the secure issues, one of the most important problem is the conflictbetween the accuracy of the biometric data and the fuzziness of the key, which constrains thedevelopment of the biometric technology.People have proposed various solutions for the problem above, and fuzzy vault is one ofthe classic options. It has been widely applied in biometric encryption domain for key binding,suitable for set feature representation, such as minutiae set of fingerprint image. The basicidea is to hide the biometric data into the random helper data, the system will certifysuccessfully only if owner shows the real biometric. Although the fuzzy vault solves theproblem above basically, recent studies have pointed out that the fuzzy vault exist somesecure issues, for example, attackers can easily compromise them if they steel more than twovaults of the legal user by cross matching. In this paper, we propose a cancelable fuzzy vaultscheme to strength the security issue. In which an one-way function is constructed totransform the original minutia information and then the transformed templates are saved. Inthis way, the attackers can not get the original minutia data even if the have more than twovaults, thereby strengthening the security of the fuzzy vault. At the same time, we use theminutia descriptors to encrypt the ordinate of the points in the vault so that the security isstrengthened.In this paper, a fingerprint database FVC2002DB2is used to do the experiment of thisalgorithm. The results showed that compared to the original fuzzy vault, thought theimplement of this improved scheme have declined in the recognition, considering the safetyperformance and the complexity, it can be drawn that the proposed method is an effectivecryptosystem.
