Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) is a kind of2-dimension periodic array structure.Its frequency selective characteristic arises from the interaction between periodic structureand electromagnetic wave. There’s rare research on finite and curved FSS structure. In thispaper, flat and cylindrical FSSs are studied in-depth depends on project needs firstly. Thenseveral band-pass FSSs are designed and satisfied the indicator.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part includes the first and secondchapters, described theapplications and research status in China and abroad;summarized themainstream theory of FSS analysis methods; elaborated Floquet theorem, the equivalentcircuit method, and spectral domain method;introduced medium loaded FSS, analyzedmultilayer FSS structure.The second part is the third chapter, the design of the planar dielectric loaded FSS at C/S-band. Several kinds of FSS unit cells, such as cross ring,three legs loaded ring,Jerusalem Cross, and hexagon ring have been researched. We conclude the characteristic ofFSS electromagnetic behavior on bandwidth and angle stability. The influence of severalparameters, such as period of array and thickness of dielectric, on the performance of FSSis concluded. The design of C/S band-pass FSS has been introduced. Bycascading FSSs, thegrating lobes are suppressioned grately, while achieveing asteep transition band. By loadingthe media, the stability of the incident angles is improved. This part makes a goodfoundation for the of theanalysis of cureved frequency selective surfacesThe third part is the fourth chapter, the design of the curved dielectric loaded FSS at C/S-band. The two designed FSS are loaded on cylinder medium with a radius of0.6m.Because the cylinder is not completely symmetrical structure, the test of FSS is divided intothe axial and circumferential. The test results will be compared with the results of thesecond part, andsummed up the design method of curved FSS based on the plane FSS.
