As sandy therapy has been developed so far, no matter in theoretical level,manifestations or therapeutic effect, the role cannot be underestimated. Through sand,sandbox and miniatures, sandy therapy is able to open a door to explore thesubconscious of players. In this paper, we analyze the sandy therapy mechanism andpropose a new form of the game, the spatial augmented reality sandy therapy. Instead ofa negation of old sandy therapy forms, the new form is built based on the original model.It exploits the sandy therapy theory,"prototype","cure","image","active imagination”and etc., to shape a game space which is more real and more conducive for players’divergent thinking.In the game mode design, augmented reality sandy therapy adheres to the “user-centered” principle. The players will go through four stages of the task, exploration,growing, battle and reconstruction, corresponding psychological process to showthemselves, face themselves and then heal themselves. In technology, the system isfunctionally divided into acquisition subsystem, a central processing subsystem anddisplay subsystem, which makes the player immersed in the space fused by imaginaryand reality in order to achieve the freedom to build and explore the inner world, andproject his inner feeling via the naturalization of human-computer interactiontechnology. After the player completes his self-space building, the system will evaluatethe players during the game. The evaluation result represents the player’s mental state,which is considered to be a reference of importance.In spatial augmented reality sandy therapy, we evaluate the effectiveness withmultivariate analysis, as well as the user satisfaction questionnaire to survey theaesthetic experience, interactive experience, emotional experience of the game. By thismethod, we verify the effectiveness of the game system, achieving a good mark in usersatisfaction and a good result in player’s the emotional investment and feedback.In summary, the spatial augmented reality technology combines a variety of formsof technologies and is still continuously improving. Via the advantages of large field ofview, strong sense of immersion, interaction diversification and other aspects, thistechnology will positively impact psychotherapy, which combination of the two willbring new experience to the player in sense and operation, playing a more significantrole in psychotherapy.
