Study of fuel spray is very important for the power performance and fuel economy of theautomobile and the protection of atmospheric environment. The image of the fuel spray in thecountry remaining in the initial stage. The processing and researching of spray image needsfurther improved and enhanced.The paper adopts the method of Malvern to obtain the characteristic data of the spray ofNo.0diesel oil, with the manual fuel injection pump, high resolution digital camera, nozzle ofvehicle engine et. while using the directly shooting method, get the spray image of thisexperiment. Extract the required the sprayed particles after the process of a certain image,statistics the size of spray particles,and then added it to the particle library.The paper proposed a way that using image matching in the studying of fuel spray image.By integrating the spray image characteristics, Comparative analysis of several kinds oftraditional image matching algorithms.The traditional SSDA matching algorithm is sensitive to gray, its ability is poor whenresistance to the noise and rotation; but its computing speed is fast.The NCC algorithmremedy the shortage of the SSDA algorithm. But the matching calculation is too big and thespeed is too slow. The paper proposed a new way of image matching which besides on thesequential similarity detection algorithm (SSDA). The paper integrate two algorithms into one,then using wavelet decomposition to realize multi-resolution image matching. Finally, usingthe pixel sampling methods to improve the search way of image matching. New algorithm notonly keeping the matching accuracy but also improve the matching speed. And then use theMATLAB/GUI software to programming the new algorithm, calculation the statisticalcharacteristics of particle and drawing variety curve the experiment needed. Finally, test thesoftware performance by comparing the results using the software and manual.
