The improved performance of Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) in recent years hadhigher requirements for the functions and performance of the control system. Based onembedded controllers, the new generation CPP control system should be advanced in technologyand reliability to satisfy the control requirements of CPP. Until now, the tests of the controllerhave mainly been done on the test bench, which cost much money and time in developing suchadvanced functions. It is necessary that the V model development process is used to solve thedifficulty in developing the new CPP electronic control system.Based on the analysis of the current status and development trend of the semi-physicalsimulation technology by referring to related technical information, the semi-physical simulationtechnology of CPP system was researched. The major work is as follows:1. According to the working principle of CPP, a mathematical model was established basedon the CPP test bench. Besides, A co-simulation technology of AMESim/Simulink was used totest the mathematical model by using the advantages of AMESim and Simulink, which cansimulate the running status of CPP accurately. At the end, the model from co-simulationtechnology was compared with the mathematical model to validate the accuracy of themathematical model.2. To cover the shortage of mathematical model in precision, system identification wasused to correct the parameters of the CPP model. A reasonable test scheme was devised toacquire output and input data, which would be used to estimate the parameter. After trying twoestimating methods, we get a servo system model that conformed to the test performance of testbench.3. An embedded control system of CPP was devised. In the control system, the hardwarewas distributed. It contained two centralized control modules and some I/O modules. Each ofthem was connected by Micro CAN bus with each other to exchange data. The software part wascomposed of centralized control module, hydraulic power unit module, monitoring systemmodule and upper computer module. A man-machine interaction system was also designed tomeet the control requirements of CPP.4. The semi-physical simulation system was established based on the xPC Targettechnology. The xPC Target worked with two-computers model. One is host and the other one is target. The simulating model works on the host and program on the target. We connected CPPcontroller with the target by I/O modules. With the semi-physical simulation system of CPP, wecan test and validate a new CPP controller.The semi-physical simulation system of CPP can replace test bench in the early stage ofdeveloping a new CPP controller, Which will shorten the development period and save a lot ofcosts. It can also offer a test platform for the related engineering project of CPPs.
