Recently, Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) researches become more popular with thefast development of car industry. Platoon communication is a prominent area in VANET study. Many vehicles are operated in platoon form with highly demanding on communication. Thisthesis is a Research on Mobility Model and Multi-Channel Multi-hop Routing Protocol forPlatoonAd-hoc Network. The channel contention and network congestion in single channel network have limitedchannel capacities. Multi-channel synchronization and channel switching delay diminishedthe network performance during multi-hop data delivery even though Wireless Access inVehicular Environment (WAVE) standard provides a multi-channel architecture for vehicleapplications. This research aims at this problem and does some studies on multi-channelmulti-hop routing protocol for platoon network, in order to provide a multi-hop routingprotocol that performs well in PlatoonAd hoc Network. The main works are as below:First, we proposed the Platoon Mobility Model, analyzed its feature of architecture andmobility, the influence of the connectivity and traffic factors, and discussed the demands ofnetwork protocol for platoon network.Second, to solve the problem of channel switching delay during multi-hop data delivery,we presented a cross-layer based Multi-channel Greedy Routing Protocol(MCGR) underPlatoon Mobility Model, are specified as:(1) We presented a Mobile Platoon NetworkMulti-channel Allocation Algorithm, which reduced the channel contention by dynamicbalancing allocating the nodes’ service channel.(2) According to the node distribution in theplatoon, we proposed the channel transmission path, which optimized the process of datadelivery.(3) We presented a multi-channel greedy forwarding algorithm to select routing, which aims at avoiding channel switching during the data delivery, thus decreased the totalchannel switching delay in multi-hop data transmission.Third, this thesis aims at the adaptability of platoon in different scenes, designed aPlatoonAssistance Location Service protocol(PALS), in order to make the platoon networkwork less depending on the infrastructure around..At last, we compared MCGR with single channel GPSR and multi-channel GPSR by simulation. The result shows that the end to end delay, throughput and packet delivery rate ofMCGR are much better than other two controlled protocols. MCGR is suitable for highbandwidth and low delay required application in the platoon network. We also simulatedPALS, and the simulation result show that PALS can reduce the network overheadsignificantly.
