Localization is an important technology to wireless sensor networks. Taking security, precisionand energy consumption into account, localization for wireless networks is studied in the thesis. Themain work contains several aspects as follows:(1)A localization algorithm LMAD is proposed. In the method, the anchor nodes with movinglocalization devices move regularly according to designed strategy in the region that wireless sensornetworks deploys. As moving along, the anchor nodes locate the unknown nodes in the covered region.The method has good features of low energy consumption and high localization accuracy. Thesecurity strategy of authentication and communication encryption is put forward, which solves theproblem of masquerade attack. Aiming at the LMAD localization algorithm vulnerable to the effect ofwormhole attack, a geometrical features-based security defense strategy against wormhole attack isput forward. With the two kinds of security strategy, a further localization algorithm SLMAD whichcombines with LMAD is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm SLMADcan not only reduce the cost and energy consumption, but also improve the localization accuracy ofunknown nodes. And it also be able to defense masquerade attack and wormhole attack.(2)Another localization algorithm LDMAR is proposed, and it is analyzed respectively by usingmoving path and energy consumption. Aiming at the LDMAR localization algorithm vulnerable tosecurity issues, such as replay attack, wormhole attack and forgery insert, a new localizationalgorithm SLDMAR is put forward. This method is combined with integrity coding technology, andverified the security performance of the algorithm by equation modeling analysis. Then itslocalization performance is verified compared with such localization algorithms as HILBERT andSPIRAL.(3)This paper analysis the potential safety hazard such as suffer node capture attack in the twokinds of algorithm SLMAD and SLDMAR, and summarizes the existed ways of node capture attack.Then a new node capture attack detection mechanism is put forward, which combines timefeatures-based detection method, spatial characteristic-based detection method and anchor nodesmasquerade as unknown nodes detection method. And its effectiveness in the application of SLMADand SLDMAR is verified by detecting anchor node capture attack and common node capture attackrespectively.
