Airborne photoelectric tracking equipment is an important meansure forreconnaissance, detection, localization and combat success assessment in modernwarfare, which has been paid increasing attention and competes to develop all over theworld. Airborne photoelectric tracking system using photoelectric sensor to completethe search, identification, tracking and targeting functions for the ground or aerial aim.It can achieve airspace surveillance, target designation, photoelectric disturb, weaponstesting many different tasks via infrared, laser as well as different effective photoelectricpayload. Airborne photoelectric tracking system plays an extremely foundational role inmodern military equipment, which serves as general equipment. It makes greatsignificance to improve the level of national defense science and technology thatdevelop photoelectric tracking technology.Airborne photoelectric tracking system is a large extent delay, multi-coupling,nonlinear and high precision real-time servo control system. It is not an easy to designthe system that could achieve rapid and stable tracking with high enough accuracy forthe high speed and high maneuvering target. They are two important methods toadvance the system performance that apply a fast effective video tracking algorithm anddesign a servo controller which possess a small overshoot and well dynamic perfor-mance,This paper outlined an overview of the photoelectric tracking system researchstatus and development tendency, and designed the overall scheme of the photoelectricimaging tracking system. Moreover, provided the composition and principle of thesystem, and studied the video target tracking algorithm. The working principle of twoaxes and four frame photoelectric servo system was introduced, and the stability andtracking control system was modeled and simulated, meanwhile the performance of thesystem was analysed. The result shows that it basically achieved the expected perfor-mance index.
