As the large-scale infrastructure for data computation and storage, fast, accuratediscover network topology structure of data center is significance for the operation andmaintenance of data center network. Because of most nodes based on Two-layer orThree-layer switches and the transparent of Two-layer switches, it is difficult for DCnetwork topology discovery based on general algorithm. According to the characteris-tics of data center network switches coexist in different levels, this paper pay moreattention on the network topology discovery technology in two levels of network layerand link layer, the main work and innovations are as follows.(1) Introduces the network structure of data center, expounds the significance ofnetwork management and topology discovery, and the SNMP protocol, Spanning TreeProtocol needing to topology discover are studied, and analyzed the work principle ofthe switch.(2) Design a network layer topology discovery algorithm. Aiming at the networklayer topology discovery design a kind of topology discovery algorithm based onSNMP protocol, to obtain information that related to network topology in the MIBlibrary by SNMP protocol, then to analyze the information processing, so as to get thewhole network topology.(3) Design a link layer topology discovery algorithm based on Spanning TreeProtocol. Inherent transparency of switches hardware, make network users usually donot feel the existence of switch, and equipment switch only in the implementation of theSpanning Tree Protocol to exchange information with the adjacent equipment. In thispaper, accessing to relevant information of Spanning Tree Protocol and combined withthe Bridge MIB variable to determine the connection between the switch, and thenobtain the topological structure of the link layer.(4) Demonstrates fesibility of SPB used in DC network, depending on the researchand analysis of Shortest Path Bridging (SPB) technology.(5) Design and implement a prototype system, based on the above two algorithms.Present the system architecture and provide detail description for each modular. At last,test the prototype system in a real network environment, analyses the test results andverify the feasibility of the algorithm.To sum up, the paper based on the SNMP protocol and the Spanning Tree Protocolhas designed network layer and link layer topology discovery algorithm for data centernetwork, and the design and implementation of a prototype system based on abovealgorithm, experimental tests verify the correctness of the algorithm.
