Key Technologies Of Network Topology Structure Discovery

With the rapid development of computer network, computer network has been penetrated into every aspect of society. In people's daily life, it becomes more and more important. Because of computer networks continually expanding the scale and complexity in recent years, how to effectively manage and control the network has become a prominent difficulty and challenge that people encountered. As the base of network management, network topology discovery is an important part of modern netwok management. Therefore, the design of the topology discovery algorithm takes a key role in the development of a network management system. The network topology discovery algorithm is studied and enhancement in this paper, and an improved algorithm based on SNMP is proposed.The paper firstly introduces the relevant concepts and basal knowledge about netwok management, and analyses the research status of topology discovery in domestic and foreign. Secondly, the relevant concepts and principles about network topology discovery are introduced, and several typical tools about network topology discovery are analyzed, at the same time, their advantages and disadvantages and using scope are pointed out.Thirdly, the theory foundation and relevant technology of network topology discovery based on SNMP is concluded, its traditional algorithm is analyzed and an improved algorithm is put forward and its experimental results are obtained. Then the relevant concepts and principles about data-link layer topology discovery are also analyzed in detail, and a new algorithm based on spanning tree protocol and its graphic display function is obtained.In the end, the research direction is pointed out in the paper based on the concluding parts.
