Applied Study Of Mobile Logistics Information Management Systems In The Third Logistics Firms

In recent years, the third-party logistics firms improve their competitivenessthrough the development and application of the logistics information system.However, many information management systems of logistics firms cannot meet realworld needs especially for thoese SMEs which take long development period andhave low efficiency. As a result, the requirements of supply chain managementcannot be met in these firms.The applicant has been involved in the application of China Mobile LogisticsInformation System (CMLIS). Based on the fact that most of the logistics companiesjust rely on the experience of the dispatchers, this thesis prosed to develop a vehiclerouthing module and include it into the CMLIS. Using the basic theory of informationmanagement system and distribution paths optimization, the thesis studies thedevelopment process and characteristics of logistics information system, and furtheranalyzes the method of solving Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP). Optimization modelfor the VRP in the CMLIS is developed on the basis of the current application ofCMLIS. Solution method using Genetic Algorithm is also studied. This thesis furtherdiscusses the applicability of the model by taking China Mobile Shenzhen company’sexisting distribution network as an example.Results of the thesis are useful to logistics firms in strengthening theirinformation systems. Implementing of the VRP module may improve the performance of the CMLIS to some degree.
