Survivability is one of important indicators of an information system, whichdescribes the ability that a system can complete its task timely even afterattacks, failures or accidents occurred. In the case of more and more informationsystems migrated to cloud environment, survivability has to face new problems andadapt to more conditions. There are plenty of measures to enhance the survivability of information systems. The paper focuses on evaluating and optimizing survivability of distributedinformation systems.A quantitative analysis framework on survivability of distributedinformation systems which are deployed in IaaS cloud environment is proposed. Themajor research direction is to evaluate the robustness of physical devices, calculatethe priority of different components, and then analyze the survivability of adistributed information system in a limited scope of several physical devices andvirtual machines with a deployment plan. Afterwards, theframework can draw a betterdeployment plan for the distributed information system to archive quasi-optimalsurvivability in limited environment. Finally, the deployment plan will be converted tomaintenance commands and executed by IaaS cloud platform. The main contribution of the paper includes: aquantitative analysis framework onsurvivability of distributed information systems deployed in IaaS cloud environment, method to calculate a better deployment plan to archive quasi-optimal survivabilityfor a distributed information system in limited environment, apply several algorithmsto experiment the availability of the framework, and test the effect of the frame inactual scene.
