A Study On Overseas Postgraduates’ Education In China Based On Gansu Province’s Educational Situation

The one belt and one road strategy has made China become a new emerging popular destination country for overseas students. Many countries along the Silk Route has sent legions of students to study in China. Gansu Province, located at the heart of the Silk Road, has attracted a large amount of overseas students from the Central Asia, especially international graduate students. In order to improve their scientific research capability, those graduate students will make their choice based on the education quality and education level of the university. Did overseas graduate students choose Gansu for the higher education quality? Did universities in Gansu province has its unique strength? Did Gansu province have any problems in high level education of international students. How to improve education quality to attract more talents? There are several questions need to be solved. Seize the opportunity to cultivate more brilliant international talents still have a long way to go. So, we need study on it.The thesis based on the relevant basic theory of overseas graduate students, The thesis applied the questionnaire survey and the interview method to investigate overseas graduate students in four universities in Gansu. The thesis mainly focused on graduate students’ adaption, curriculum, teaching, scientific and research capability, campus management, self-evaluation and suggestions and opinions. The characteristics and problems of overseas graduate education in China are discussed, and the solutions are put forward. Conclusions are as follows:(1) The reason of overseas graduate students attend school in Gansu is “ high professional level ”and ”the school provides national government scholarship”;(2) Strong adaptability of overseas graduate students in Gansu;(3) Overseas graduate students is satisfied with the curriculum, because of the different disciplines, some students think the theory is so much and the curriculum can not expand their knowledge;(4) Most teachers’ teaching methods are flexible,the content is newer, overseas graduate students’ satisfaction is higher, however, there is still exist some rigid teaching, outdated content, which arousing students’ dissatisfaction.(5) The research situation is not optimistic, because of the language, the way mentoring, communication problems, difficulties of paper,which results in lower level of scientific research, the low level of self-evaluation of scientific research. Factors affecting the level of scientific research are: curriculum, professional learning, teaching, mentoring, etc.(6) For the overseas graduate management, Gansu university has the problem of inefficiencies, communication difficulties, management is not focus on students.(7) To the overseas graduate students that the courses, to adapt to the situation, teaching and mentoring of students is very important to improve the level of education.
