A Research On Technological Collegestudents’consciousness Of Political Participation

Political participation is an essential mastery and part of the political socializationfor modern university students. Political participation consists of two parts: political participation consciousness and political participation action, among which, the political participation consciousness plays a prime and critical role in political participation.Students can form the adaptability to the unpredictable changes in political life, the firm footing of communism, and the contribution to the construction of socialist democracy on the condition that they foster a correct political participation consciousness and put it into practice based on their own experience in order to form a “institutional” custom of consciousness.However, under the circumstance of globalization where there exist multiple conflicts of different cultures and joint development of cultural diversity and cultural pluralism, Science-technology university students display features of fashion,prominence, experimentalism, calculation, negligence of political study. Therefore, their being of the main force of political participation in China has become an unavoidable problem for ideological and political education in universities, especially in science-technology universities.This paper firstly analyses the related Marxist theories closely connected to university students’ political participation and the consciousness of university students’ political participation in order to sort out and define the conception of university students’ political participation and analyze the formation and developmental features of modern university students’ political participation. In addition, this paper focuses on four science-technology universities in Shanxi province, and selects their students as the objects of this study in order to get a better understanding of the status and problems in the consciousness of political participation of science-technology universities in Shanxi province. Combining related Marxist theories, this paper analyses the causes of the status and problem from internal and external perspectives, giving respondingsuggestions to improve the political participation consciousness and foster students’ scientific political participation consciousness.This thesis contains five parts which are as follows:Part one is the introduction which begins with brief introductions to purposes,significance, literature review, ideas, methods and innovative points of the research in this paper.Part two is about the theories and concepts. This part mainly analyzes political participation of college students that is related to the theories and concepts of Marxist,which is the basis of this paper. The theories consist of Marxist ideology theory, people’s self-governing theory of Marxism, Marxist theory of youth, the related theory of Mao Zedong on basic experience of ideological and political education for the youth.Concept parts contain the political participation, political participation of college students, consciousness, and consciousness of political participation, concept of college students’ political participation, which overall form the macro and micro perspectives of political participation of college students in this part.Part Three explores the current situation. On the basis of understanding of the basic characteristics of science-technology university students, this thesis put emphasis on the analysis on the present situation and problems of political participation consciousness of college students in science and engineering in Shanxi. The study that faces to 4 universities and colleges feature science and engineering(including Taiyuan University of Technology, North University of China, Taiyuan Institute of Technology,Taiyuan University of Science and Technology) distributes questionnaires to college students。For example,they hold the high degree of political participation,but lack of the knowledge about it,the attitudes to political participation tend to rational,their emotion of political participation is not strong,etc.Part Four is connected with the reasons and factors that affect the formation and development of science-technology university students’ political participation consciousness in both external and internal aspects with the characteristics of science-technology students. The external reasons include social reasons, such as,insufficient legal advocacy, rare political participation channels. Scholastic reasons.For example, there is no warm atmosphere of political participation inscience-technology universities and colleges. Family reasons include the lack of knowledge on political participation of their parents, the unreasonable family structure.The internal reasons are personal reasons, such as, the problems of political values existed in science-technology college students, the immature political psychology and the lack of experience of political life.Part five gives solutions. Combing Marxist classic theories, this paper comes up with some practical solutions to the improvement and fostering of the consciousness of science-technology university students, which are mainly as follows: the society’s responsibility to foster a sound social environment, the improvement of the mechanism for mass media, the provision of sound political information, patriotism education on campus, enhancement of the availability of ideological political education, promotion of the cancel of diversion of students into art and science track, involvement and encouragement to excellent students in political participation, due and sound influence on political participation from family, proactive study of political knowledge by oneself and improvement of political consciousness and so on.
