In the teaching environment which network and computer technology has been widely used, most of the teaching material is organized to be hyper text. This is convenient to individualized learning, and accord with people’s cognitive structure. However, students have to accept more information than they need, or they cannot use the information as effective as possible. Therefore, compare to traditional text-reading, online text-reading lead more cognitive load to students.There are studies which have prove learning goal play an important role to traditional reading, hower we don’t know whether learning goal have the same effect to online reading. If the answer is yes, that means under the network environment, set the learning goal for text will be more conducive to text reading comprehension than not set the learning goal. Most text under the network environment is presented in the form of hypertext, there is also a small part of the text is presented in the form of linear text, so whether learning goal have the same fuction to these two text kinds? Whether should we set different kind of text for different learning goal?First, this study followed a 2×2 between-subjects design, with learning goals (have or not have learning goal) and presentation form of text (liner reading vs. hyper reading). The result is although the different of post-text objective score among these four groups, the learning goal group significantly use less time than the other, and participants prefer the website of hyper-text group. Then we can discuss the influence from different learning goals and presentation form of text to online text reading. Then, design a 2×3 between-subjects experiment, with learning goals (no learning goal, remember goal and application goal) and presentation form of text (liner reading vs. hyper reading). The result is text type and learning goal will influence the reading model and affect how to process information. In short, this study verified the basic learning goals and text type in online environment have influence to text reading comprehension, this conclusion can can provide some guidance to the future teaching design in network environment.
