A Chinese saying " When one learns 300 poems of the Tang Dynasty by heart, one is sure to be able to write poetry" is emphasizing the importance of recitation during the process of learning Chinese. For a long period, recitation plays a significant role in learning Chinese and the teachers pay more attention to continuous and comprehensible recitation. In the process, the students accumulate related language materials, such as vocabulary, phrases and typical sentences. Then the students change what they have input into output. With the development of new curriculum inform, the English teachers ignore the traditional teaching strategy——recitation. Many new teaching strategies emerge in large numbers, such as Task-Based Language Teaching, Communicative Teaching and Team Work. Emerge in large numbers, teaching methods are not excluded, recitation also applies. Recitation could help the students to master quantities of words and expressions in a short period, and it can strengthen student’s sense of English language. At the same time the teacher will be sure that the input materials is comprehensible and interesting to avoid learning by rote. The purpose of the article is to certify the practicability of recitation. If the teaching method is used properly, it will benefit the students and their English learning.Totally 90 students from Grade 2014 in Xiaying Senior High School in Jixian Tianjin are selected as subjects. Class 1 is elected as the test group. While the reference group is composed of Class 2. This study is carried out in Jixian Tianjin senior high school during the first semester of the 2014-2015 academic year. Students in test group are asked to recite one English passage every week, while the students in preference group also learn the passage, but they are not required to recite the passage. It is not easy for the chosen students to learn English well, and many factors make English learning a difficult task. The experiment includes two parts, the analysis of experiment data and the analysis of interview after the four tests. The experiment data includes the score of pre-test and post-test, and then compare. For the degree of difficulty of the test papers is balanced, so the variety of the data could show the process of the students in the class chosen for experiment. The standard deviation of every item’s data reflects the point spread between the students’ point and the average. The lower the standard deviation is, the less the point spread between the students’ score and the average is. The analysis shows that the improvement of the students in the class chosen for experiment is more obvious, and their reading and writhing abilities have strengthened. Then the interview can reflect the change of students’cognitive psychology. According to the analysis of the interview, we can conclude that recitation has won the approval of the students, who thinks the input materials are available to increase their vocabulary and grammatical rules. Recitation makes it easier to learn English and generate excitement in learning English. Otherwise, they are more self-confident to learn English better.
