Teachers are the basis of education and good teachers cultivate good education. In modern times, with the increasing development of basic education reform, people gradually realize that in order to update education concepts, improve education quality and deepen teaching reform, it is the quality and standard of teachers that play the decisive role. That striving to build a high-level professional teacher team with noble morality, excellent proficiency and strong vitality is the fundamental guarantee to promote basic education development in China.The system of selecting specially-honored teachers has had a history of nearly 40 years since its official establishment in 1978, which exerts an essential promotion influence on optimizing the teacher team in China and advancing the rapid development of teachers. Specially-honored teachers are symbols of morality, models of teaching as well as the education experts. This title not only is a kind of material reward to primary and secondary school teachers but also means a deep sense of responsibility and mission. The title of specially-honored teacher is more a kind of incentive and promotion than an enormous honor, symbolizing the personal educating and teaching abilities of a teacher. The professional development of specially-honored teachers is a process of conscious cultivation, as well as a process of constant strive, self-improvement and self-transcendence.This paper, through the narrative research of the professional development of specially-honored teacher Ms. W, who is an excellent Chinese teacher, using the specific, representative and successful case, reveals the factors influencing the professional development of teachers from the perspective of personal professional development, analyzes the factors facilitating teacher from being ordinary to extraordinary and is expected to provide some advice and references for the professional development of general teachers.This paper consists of five parts.Chapter one is the introduction part, mainly including research questions, origin of the research, research status of home and abroad, definitions of related concepts and research procedures.Chapter two focuses on the narration of professional development of Ms. W, which can be divided into three periods, namely, before entering normal education, during normal education and after being a teacher. The author entirely observes the class teaching of the research object, using extracts of classroom records to reflect her teaching status and takes interviews with her colleagues, students, students’ parents at a certain time to comprehend the development status of the research object.Chapter three is concerned with the explanatory comprehension and analysis towards the professional development narration of the research subject, analyzing the features in different periods of professional development from the outer and inner aspects so as to obtain the factors influencing her professional development.Chapter four puts forward the implication of this study. For teachers and their career development, virtue is the base; proficiency is the soul; introspection is the road; and individuality is the mode.Chapter five is the conclusion part, making a summary and emphasizing the research significance of a case study to the professional development of teachers. |
