| Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four basic skills in the process of English learning, among which listening is the basis of other three skills and the most commonly used skill in daily life. However, listening teaching is always the weak link among basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The English listening has become the difficulty of the students’learning and the teachers’ teaching. At present, the main model of listening teaching is to listen to the tape and to complete the listening exercises, and then check the answers. This teaching method makes students tired and bored. Furthermore, that will make students lose interest in learning English. It’s more important to change the method of listening teaching to stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm, improve the students’ listening level, which is worth the question of English teachers’ thinking. TBLT (Task-based language teaching) is a teaching method which begins in 1980s, uses specific tasks as learning motivation and focus on the process of performing the tasks. TBLT is based on the communicative approach. It inherits the concept "learning by doing" from the communicative teaching theory. TBLT is the development of the communicative teaching theory.Based on the present situation of listening teaching and learning of junior high school students and combined with the existing teaching conditions and teaching objects, the task-based teaching reform focuses on the field of English Listening Teaching in junior high school and tries to construct the listening task teaching mode for English listening in junior high schools. The study used experimental research method whose objects are NO.9 junior high school in Baishan City. There are two classes divided into experimental class and control class. Experiments were carried out through the means of English listening test and questionnaire survey, using spss16.0 for data analysis descriptively and inferentially. The results show that the experimental class in listening level after the experiment was significantly higher than the control class, so the experimental class students’ listening interest improved, and they can use appropriate listening strategies in the listening process better. Therefore, we drew the conclusion that task-based listening teaching is an effective teaching model, which can improve students’ Listening comprehension, learning interest and listening strategies. This study attempts to answer the following three questions:1)Whether task-based listening teaching can effectively improve students’listening ability? 2)Whether task-based listening teaching can improve the students’ listening learning interest? 3)Whether task-based listening teaching can help students to master the appropriate listening strategies? This thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the part of the research background, research significance, research purpose and research method of the paper.
