More people have access to higher colleges with the popularization of higher education. However, it also brings lots of problems, such as the excessive increase in size of higher colleges, the decreasing education quality and the grim employment situation. Therefore, improving higher education quality and heading for connotative development are important to higher education reform in new era. With the policy of classified development and the idea of characteristic school-running, and on the basis of social development demands, local colleges’transformation to university of applied sciences is the only way in the development of higher education. Facing transformation, faculty teaching development needs to change as well in order to meet its requirements. As a consequence, it is significant to push forward a successful transformation by the way of exploring faculty teaching development.In order to know the current situation of faculty teaching development in local colleges’transformation, put forward some pertinent suggestions, and make the target of local colleges’transformation come true through faculty transformation, this paper uses literature summarizing and questionnaire method. The paper collects and analyzes some related literature, and chooses X University as a respondent, which is a pilot transformation college in Yunnan Province. Then it uses Anova test to make a variance analysis on the indexes of six dimensions, and digs into vital indexes to faculty teaching development. The research reveals main problems on faculty teaching development in transformation. One is not to reflect local colleges’transformation requirements truly. The other is being influenced by the difference of disciplinary natures. The third is neglecting the cultivation of dual-qualification teachers. According to these, the research finds out main reasons as follows:teachers do not pay attention to the development of dual-qualification, faculty teaching development center is absent of characteristic and targeted activities, and the lack of a communication platform on faculty teaching development between college and enterprise.In the end, in the view of foregoing problems and reasons, this paper puts forward some strategies to improve the current situation of local colleges’faculty teaching development and make a fundamental construction on faculty for local colleges’ transformation. Firstly, the faculty needs to carry out the idea of teaching development, and makes personal development come with the development of local college. Secondly, the department of faculty development needs to classify teaching development activities, and offers different development services to different teachers. Last but not least, the local college needs to expand the way of teaching development, and constructs "dual-qualified faculty" with the company.
