College counselor team is a special group of university teachers, which are the main organizers and practitioners of the ideological and political education. The counselors’work satisfaction, to a large degree, not only influences their motivation, but affects the stability and improvement of their team as well, and then impacts on the quality of the talent training and the achievement of strategic targets. Therefore, the study on the work satisfaction of the college counselors has the theoretical and practical meanings on college management.Private colleges, as an important part of the main body of higher education, play a very crucial role in the process of talent training. XJ University, a private college, was founded in 1994. There are 146 counselors to specialize in students’ ideological and political education and daily management. The structure of the counselors’ team is complicated because it developed from the non-academic education to the degree education. Meanwhile, as the continuation of the policy of higher education enrollment expansion, the quality of student resources constantly changed, and the counselors met more and more difficulties and obstacles in their work. Furthermore, the social and economic development caused people to increase their needs on the quality of life, and also influenced the counselors’ work satisfaction and motivation.Based on the domestic and abroad findings, the present study tried to give some suggestions on the improvement of the counselors’ work satisfaction via employing the questionnaire and interview on the counselors in XJ University.This thesis is composed of six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction of the present study, including the background, purposes, meaning, and methodology. Chapter 2 offers a very detailed literature review, which mainly identifies the related concepts of the work satisfaction and the current situation of the counselors’work satisfaction. In Chapter 3, a research design on the counselors’work satisfaction of XJ University is presented. The current situation of the counselors in XJ University is introduced, and then the questionnaire is development and implemented based on the previous interviews. Chapter 4 covers the measurement of the work satisfaction and the general description and dimensional analysis of the results. Chapter 5 is a comprehensive discussion of the research findings. It also provides the suggestions from five aspects. Chapter 6 is a conclusion of the thesis. The major findings are summarized firstly. And then limitations and suggestions for future research are pointed out.After analyzing the research results, the major findings that emerged from the study are presented as follows. Firstly, the highest satisfaction level is the employment rewards, while the lowest comes to the management system. Secondly, a group of women counselors achieved the higher work satisfaction, especially for those who are married, under the age of 31, and have worked less than 10 years. Then, five suggestions related to management are provided.
