In recent years more and more attention has been focused on children’s mental health problems. The number of children with eccentric character in primary school presents the increasing trend. This paper is mainly to study the relationship between children with eccentric personality and painting. Children with eccentric character like to keep to themselves, rarely communicate with others, and cannot express themselves well, all of which have an negative impact on their study and life, and painting is one of the main ways they express their inner heart. By observing their painting process and painting works, it aims to reveal the inner world of the children with eccentric character, and to explore the relationship between their personality and painting. The significance of art education lies in the student-oriented value. It opens to all students and help students to develop both physically and mentally. Therefore, the paper also tries to use the means of painting to conduct psychological counseling for such children, in order to avoid more serious psychological problems and enable the students to develop in a healthy way. This paper is divided into six chapters. From the definition of the character of eccentric children, the paper discusses the relationship between personality and painting. The core is to find eccentric children through the actual investigation, and summarize the performance characteristics of the painting and try to conduct psychological counseling through painting. Finally through a series of studies, the paper summarizes the recommendations of the school art teaching. The first chapter is the introduction. It explains the reasons for choosing this topic based on social status of psychological development of children with eccentric disposition, theoretical research status and the author’s interest in the teaching of children’ Art. Based on the concept of "student oriented", this paper expounds the significance of the research on the painting of eccentric children combined with the new curriculum standard of art. The first chapter analyzes the current situation of the research on the character of the children’s painting from both foreign aspect and domestic aspect, and finally lists the research methods used in this paper. In the second chapter, though research and observation as well as combination of experts’ theory., the paper defines what is the children with eccentric character. The character of the eccentric child can be expressed by painting. Then it will explain why the study object is set in the lower grade of primary school and the advantages of adapting Tree-House-Person as the main study method. From the third chapter to the fifth chapter, it is the practice process and also the source of the new ideas of this paper. The fourth chapter mainly describes the whole process of finding out the children with eccentric character from Tree-House-Person test. In this process, seven children with eccentric personality are found, and then the paper briefly analyzes their painting. Then, in the fourth chapter, according to the color, composition, image and theme of the sample works, the painting characteristics of the eccentric children are summed up. The fifth chapter selects one eccentric child as the painting counseling case. Through the counseling, his personality becomes better. Therefore, it can be seen that painting can not only help us understanding the inner world of eccentric children, but also can be used as certain means to improve their personality. The sixth chapter puts forward suggestions for art teaching in school. As a fine arts educator, it is encouraged that school, family and society should be combined. We should observe every child, and correctly treat them.Throughout the course of the study, the focus is to use Tree-House-Person drawing test to find eccentric children, explore their psychological activity, and make a summary of its unsociable children painting features. The purpose of art education is to cultivate a sound personality. For this consideration, this study also tries to draw on the personality of the eccentric children. But because of the restriction of practice time, the painting guidance to the eccentric character is not enough, and one regret is being unable to continue to track their observations. Above gains and losses will be engaged in my future work in art teaching experience.
