As Ministry of Education and some relevant departments promote development and application of high-quality digital resources in higher education, and in order to respond to the call of talent training in higher vocational education according to the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, this article will combine SPOC mode and instruction of Computer Essential Course to design and evaluate the teaching steps and application result. This study focuses on the SPOC mode to carry out the online and offline hybrid teaching. After two consecutive rounds of research, this mode has been implemented, verified and improved. The specific research content and result are as follows:First of all, through the analysis of the MOOC application status, the teaching characteristics and course features of “Computer Essential Course”, a conclusion should be drawn: the MOOC should be integrated into the higher education, and reconstruction of the teaching procedures even the curriculum reform in “Computer Essential Course ” are necessary. “Computer Essential Course” as an introductory course of computer application, plays an important role in completing the teaching task with high quality in limited classes and offers a significant help in putting resources into rational use in the teaching procedures by applying SPOC mode in teaching practice.Secondly, through the analysis of the course features and teaching characteristics of “Computer Essential Course ” and the characteristics of students in higher vocational colleges, SPOC mode should be applied into the teaching of “Computer Essential Course ”. In view of the current teaching of “Computer Essential Course” class hour quantity insufficiency, the obsolete teaching content, cramming method of teaching and students’ lack of self-control ability, the SPOC mode replies respectively as follows:(1)decomposition teaching activities and reconstructing the teaching process;(2)providing video courses of elite schools and integrating high quality resources;(3)making the principal position of students’ clear and enriching the teaching activities; improving(4)teachers’ influence and combining with supervision, guidance, and evaluationAgain, conducting the teaching design is based on the SPOC mode in the pre-class preparation, in-class operation and after-class feedback. On account of the nature of “Computer Essential Course”, the classification of theoretical part and practical part will be presented.Then, the teaching design based on the SPOC mode will be applied to the theoretical part and practical part of teaching according to the specific content of “Computer Essential Course”, each part of the teaching practice is around pre-class preparation, in-class operation and after-class feedback.Finally, this study employs questionnaire survey, ?X-S plane analysis method, and S-P table analysis, the actual effect of SPOC mode in teaching applications will be analyzed from the various dimensions. The result of practice manifests that teachers can complete the task of teaching with high quality in limited time; students’ participation in class activity has improved; students’ academic performance has improved. But it also reflects some problems: the implementation of SPOC mode will occupy a lot time of teachers’ and students’; students will feel burnout with further study; and the teaching activities carried out pre-class and after-class is not satisfactory.
